Friday Haiku 12/14/07

Hey, Kids! What time is it? It’s Friday Haiku time! It’s Friday Haiku time! Ahem. Sorry. The voices took over for a moment. This week’s theme is a “tribute” to my dishwasher and the saga that has become it’s repair. Enjoy, because I certianly haven’t. If, after reading this outstanding work, you find yourself in need of more Japanese-styled poetry, click here.

Innocent at first.
Flashing beep and error code.
Easy to restart.

Annoying it was.
But no time to fix problem.
I would deal with it.

Then another code.
It too flashed and beeped at me.
Serious this is.

But no time, no time.
Not to mention the expense.
I must bite bullet.

Spouse always says to
Schedule maintenance or it
Will schedule itself.

Waited much too long.
LG does not mean Life’s Good
If you need a fix.

Appliances that
Are made in Asia can be
Hard to get repaired.

There is only one
Place in town to fix machine
Must now order part.

It is now three weeks.
Finally have the part in.
Or so they tell me.

Wednesday will not come
Soon enough for me. I miss
Having dishwasher.

I have learned lesson.
Will only buy appliance
Made in USA.

  1. oh you poor dear! there are few things worse than broken dishwashers!

  2. Ohmygosh — reminds me of something I wrote decades ago while waiting for the GE Repairman all day only to have him NOT show up … and I had to wait another two weeks for an appointment and take yet another day off work to wait again. You have my sympathy … and prayers for a better result than mine.
    Hugs and blessings,

Really? Oh, that’s misery. I don’t have the LG dishwasher, but my Whirlpool repair guy said 90% of his calls are on Kenmore/Whirlpools. Don’t buy those!

Yes. I’m originally from the Memorial area.

poor you…broken dishwashers are as bad as broken washing machines!
great haiku, though! i tried it, today. i don’t think i’ve written one, in many moons…or suns, for that matter!
    have a great weekend!

  5. I’m just impressed by your consistent, excellent—and entertaining—haiku!

I may have to start calling you Jack.

oh no! that’s awful! i just had to buy all new kitchen appliances (i’m moving to a new house in Feb.), and now i’m glad i went with Kenmore! 🙂

great haiku! hope Wednesday is here before you know it!

  7. ugh. it’s horrid when appliances give out like that. I had a frige full of food decide to die on me in the middle of summer. I guess the upside was that buying one took less time than getting it repaired!

  8. “Annoying it was”

Your haiku is channeling Yoda. Love it!

  9. Oh, my dear God. I can’t imagine going so long without a dishwasher. Good luck with the repairs! Great ku.

  10. What an excellent series, although the inspiration for it stinks. Having done a kitchen remodel at one time, meaning I did dishes in the bathtub, I feel your pain.

  11. A broken dishwasher? Egads! The only thing worse is a broken laptop. Hope it is repaired SOON. GREAT kus!
